Recently, The Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) has signed a contract of producing Anka military drones with Pakistan’s National Engineering and Science Commission, Well known as NESCOM. TUSAŞ announced that, this contract was signed in International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) 2021 which was held in Istanbul on during the 17–20 August. According to this contract, NESCOM will manufacture some components for the Anka UAV. And NESCOM will also collaborate developing the unmanned system.

The main concept of this partnership is to expand the market of UAV’s and enhance the cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey.

“The contract we made with Pakistan within the scope of our ANKA UAV systems will provide significant gains to the UAV industry. This acquisition, especially with Pakistan’s National Engineering and Science Commission, will strengthen our UAVs. It is very important that we continue our historical brotherhood for the gains of both countries. We will implement the human resources cooperation we have made in the past years in this contract as well.”

Pakistan’s NESCOM to manufacture parts for Anka UAV

Anka is a family of MALE UAVs designed which is capable of staying in the air for more than 24 hours at an altitude of 30,000 feet. This drone has a payload capacity of 250 kilograms. Let’s talk about some variants of Anka UAV’s

  • The Anka-A and Anka-B are the initial variants.
  • The Anka-S is the serial-production variant. This serial Anka-S can be armed with Roketsan’s MAM-L and MAM-C laser-guided bombs. This Anka’s UAV have the advance features including Aselsan Common Aperture Targeting System (CATS), satellite communications for beyond-line-of-sight operations, and secure communications.

Further, Pakistan have signed a multi-billion dollar agreement. This agreement includes Pakistan is purchasing the 30 modern t-129 attack helicopters. These helicopters are developed by TAI under a license from the Italian-British company Augusta Westland.
